Hermione Granger also:

punched Draco Malfoy in the nose for being an idiot

purposefully performed a confundus charm on whatshsface WHILE HE WAS FLYING just so Ron would win (omfg that is so fucking dangerous)

literally pulled a fucking Bourne Identity on her parents and managed to set them up in fucking Australia (jesus christ she literally made it so that she NEVER EXISTED wtf that’s so fucking 007)

Convinced the Ministry of Magic to give her an incredibly dangerous and volatile device that allowed her to ALTER TIMELINES COMPLETELY (just because she was so smart, literally, that is the reason, her “potential”)

Has enough basic survival skills and badass magic to literally disappear to the middle of nowhere and flourish AND figure out Voldemort’s plot with Harry

Hermione also figures out not only what Voldemort’s plan is, but generally how to beat it, WAY BEFORE VOLDEMORT EVER DOES. Why? because she is just that much smarter and better at magic than everybody else

in conclusion: Voldemort wishes he could be as awesome as Hermione, that’s why he wants to kill her so bad.

Can we rehave this series with hermione as the protagonist.

I’ve always just sort of assumed that “The brightest witch of her age” had nothing to do with years-old and was more a statement to the effect that she was the brightest of the time. Period. Dang, smart girls rock.

My son is just getting into Legos, so I thought he’d love these stickers. Then I took a closer look and saw that one of the construction workers (the only one wearing “cool” sunglasses) was labeled “Hey Babe!”

I was stunned. Maybe it’s the fact that I just saw the team at Hollaback speak this month, or maybe it is that this is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, or maybe it is just that street harassment sucks. But chances are it was all three of these things that made me so mad to see a brand I love pushing this sort of thing.

The Hollaback website notes that street harassment is the most prevalent form of sexual violence for both men and women in the United States. Internationally, they point out, “studies show that between 70-99% of women experience street harassment at some point during their lives.”

Lego hasn’t really been on a roll recently when it comes to gender and its toys. See for example this post over at Ms. Magazine that picks apart the images of beauty in Lego’s new line of toys for girls (and check out the great ad from 1981 to see how far they have fallen).

Needless to say, I didn’t buy the stickers.

Well, if I knew that the kids were keeping the books because they really loved them, as opposed to losing the books due to carelessness….

I totally agree. Although, given the fact that I’ve tried everything under the moon to get books back every year, might as well look for some silver lining.

Maybe one of these books will be discovered later, under the couch and covered in dust, and maybe… just maybe someone will read it.

We’ve only got about 120 books overdue at the moment. If I get half of those back, I’ll be thrilled. Still, the cost of replacing 60 books, will easily be $750.

Sometimes I’m surprised the Internet lets me stay here.

I shower on the daily but one good bath a week is just right. But I bring books with me to the tub all the time. Literally, every single time I take a bath. That’s what I do when I take baths. I read books. I have no idea what the original poster’s problem is.

Just hold the book above the water.

I’d much prefer a shower and I’m not at all a fan of cats. I love my dog, Jasper, but I’m not really a dog person either. They are, however, a far superior species to cats. Far, far.
