I don’t really think tonight was such a disaster for Newt. If you look at this map, there’s reason to believe that Newt could do really well in the South.
Everyone knows that anything south of the Panhandle in Florida is not really part of the South. Newt did really well in the Panhandle; Gingrinch is beating Mitt by more than twenty points in most of those counties. If I were him, I’d be looking forward to Super Tuesday.

But he didn’t do that well in the northwest of FL, which is basicaly AL (I know this my in-laws live near there). The central strip that runs the length of the state is always super conservative too, which Mitt won. He will do well in the south, sad.
