I’m looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow! I’m also excited to just see our new and improved building. I drove by yesterday and it looks good!
Our entrance used to feel a bit like a castle; it’s much more open now. There are lots of windows at the entrance and my library is right at the front of our school. I think there’ll be a lot of natural light, which is...

September or late August. No official date. DW has an official tumblr! It will announce.
Thanks!
Hey, when does Dr. Who come back to TV?
My wife wants to know when Dr. Who is coming back. Y’all help me look like the internet wiz she thinks I am.
I tried a google search and didn’t see the answer on the first page. I’m lazy.

Dear Coquette: On plus-ones. →
dearcoquette:
Dear Coquette, What are your thoughts on getting an invite to a wedding without a plus-one when you’re single, but everyone else who is in a relationship gets to bring their boyfriend/girlfriend/partner? If a conservative estimate of 25 invitations per wedding go out to singles, who are…

Bill Nye the Science Guy: Reddit IAmA . . .... →
jtotheizzoe:
That’s right, our favorite science guy (me excluded) is over at Reddit doing an IAmA! This should prove to be an awesome one … the questions are flowing in at warp speed, though:
Just in case he doesn’t get to your question, what would you ask him?

Last night, a father of three was shot and killed in my hometown. His death was the first murder in Athens this year. The article described how he was shot in the back after returning home from work.
You’d think the comments would have focused on sending condolences to the family of the victim (and maybe they would have if the victim looked a bit different), but you’d be wrong. The...

As an employee of said paper, I don’t think you’ll get into trouble. Especially if you link back.
Thanks.
There you have it, folks.
Maybe I’ll post some tonight.

Sadly there’s no precise rule for how much reuse is ok. But if you post a selection (rather than the whole comments section), and link back to the original, and aren’t making any money off of it, then your chances of getting in trouble are near zero.
That’s what I’m thinking, too. Thanks.

Are they in print or on the Facebook page or website.
On the website - www.onlineathens.com.
Does anyone know about the legality of posting comments from my local paper? I think it’d be fun interesting to compile the idiotic, racist, homophobic, sexist, nasty comments from the readers of my local paper to share with the world. I feel so alone reading them … well, alone.
What are the rules about copyright and fair use in this scenario?

Political polls: Apr 15 to July 25
sohso:
A curious Show of Hands user asked me for access to the recent political polls that are no longer open for voting. Since our poll archives aren’t readily available, I had to do a bit of work to honor the request. And since I did it for him, I figured I may as well share it with the rest of y’all. And since I shared it with y’all, I figured you may as well share it with everyone you’ve...

Jim Henson Company Cuts Ties with Chick-Fil-Hate
From The Jim Henson Company Facebook page:
The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors. Lisa Henson, our CEO is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD. ...

Damn. I’m going to miss you, Chick-Fil-A, but no sandwich is worth bigotry / hatred / vitriol towards human rights.
