happy day for America
notemily:
“Representative Steve King, Republican of Iowa, even rationalized Stack’s crime. “It’s sad the incident in Texas happened,” he said, “but by the same token, it’s an agency that is unnecessary. And when the day comes when that is over and we abolish the I.R.S., it’s going to be a happy day for America.””

Barry Cooper: Drug War Insurgent →
Cooper said that Nassour was specifically targeted that evening because he’d seen video, sent to his Web site by a reader, which showed the officer forcing his drug dog to false alert on a vehicle, thereby giving probable cause for a search. Crouched behind bushes near the car wash, Barry had his camera leveled at the officer. The goal was to catch Nassour on video stealing the money, then pick...
Curious George and book fairs

Curious George and me during the book fair.
Curious George and book fairs are two of my favorite things!!
Agreed on both counts. I must say that I think I enjoyed book fairs more as a teacher than I do as a librarian.
Last time, Scholastic sent us Clifford. And Clifford is cool, too. But not as cool as Curious George.
I bet the kids wish it was Captain...

You “think” that is “possible”? “Implicit” biases? You think maybe there may be an element of racism involved in police work? Gee, wherever did you get that idea?

tired
Today was a twelve hour work day. I’m tired. But the book fair went well today. We sold nearly $4,000 in books (and junk) today.
I’ve read some interesting stuff on the internets this evening, but I’m too tired to write more than this.
Not a very glamorous 100th post. Eh well…
Good night.

time of posts?
Is there a way to show the times posts were made in your dashboard?
I just want to know when I’m getting close to where I left off this morning.
book fair week
The book fair is all set up. I should have taken a picture.
Tomorrow is preview day. Thirty classes will come visit. It will be busy.
I’m exhausted.
Laura and I are going to meet our doula in a bit.
Maybe I can squeeze a cat nap in first.

Dude, dude, dude, I know! I actually have a story - ABOUT YOU! So I was reading my dash and you were on it and I clicked over to your page for some reason or another and it had the little “follow” button up top. WTF! Why is it asking if I want to follow you when in the other tab I have open there you are on my dash! So … I refollowed you? I was...

lesson learned
We have this contractor who occasionally does work for us. Every single time he gives us an estimate, he comes back later saying how this or that came up or changed and now it will actually cost $xxx more.
I know he needs the work and he’s a nice guy, apart from his bad business skills. So, I’ve used him for three projects in all. I know how he rolls now, so I was very upfront about...

ditching Dewey
I’m thinking about organizing my non-fiction collection using the bookstore shelving system next year.
Has anyone thought about this? I’m trying to think about any downsides to dropping Dewey. Please let me know if you can think of any.
Here’s a story about a library that has switched from Dewey to the bookstore system:
